Play Powerball, It’s America’s Game!
America’s favorite lottery is now played in 42 States, which includes Washington D.C. and the US Virgin Islands.
Powerball’s predecessor began in 1988; it was known as Lotto*America. The game, and name, were officially changed to Powerball on April 19, 1992. On January 4, 2009, the Powerball game will change. We are adding some white ball numbers to make the jackpots bigger and we are subtracting some of the red ball numbers to create more winners (over 3.5 million more winners per year at the same sales level). The new Powerball will be a 59/39 game.
Powerball is a lotto game which is a combined large jackpot game and a cash game. Every Wednesday and Saturday night at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time, we draw five white balls out of a drum with 59 balls and one red ball out of a drum with 39 red balls.
Powerball is a multi-state, multimillion-dollar jackpot game with jackpots starting at $20 million ($40 million starting on Jan 15, 2012), and continuing to grow until won. There are nine (9) exciting ways to win with Powerball and it’s easy to get in the game!
